The Property Tax Postponement Program (PTP) was reinstated on September 28, 2014, effective for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, when the Governor signed AB 2231. This program allows for Seniors 62 and over, Blind, and Disabled citizens to apply for a postponement of all or part of their property tax bill, assuming an annual income of $35,500 or less, at least a 40% equity in their home, and the home must be the primary residence. All applications must be mailed in to the State Controller’s Office. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis. The dates for the current application period are available on the California State Controller’s Office website https://www.sco.ca.gov/ardtax_prop_tax_postponement.html. Applications postmarked before or after that date range will be declined.
