Property Tax Postponement Program

The Property Tax Postponement Program (PTP) was reinstated on September 28, 2014, effective for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, when the Governor signed AB 2231. This program allows for Seniors 62 and over, Blind, and Disabled citizens to apply for a postponement of all or part of their property tax bill, assuming an annual income of $35,500 or less, at least a 40% equity in their home, and the home must be the primary residence.  All applications must be mailed in to the State Controller’s Office.  Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis.  The dates for the current application period are available on the California State Controller’s Office website Applications postmarked before or after that date range will be declined.
