Rustic Canyon Golf Course, Simi Valley
Rustic Canyon Golf Course is touted as having one of the most unique layouts in Southern California. This award winning course designed by Gilbert Hanse, is challenging with expansive fairways, large greens, few trees and an almost imperceptible slope to the terrain. The surrounding mountain ranges and distant landscape can distort one’s perception through optical illusion, therefore giving the unsuspecting golfer a false sense of distance. This lends to the difficulty level of the course. The grounds crew work hard to ensure that the turf is lush, and the greens are fast and firm year round.
Location: 15100 Happy Camp Canyon Road, Moorpark. From the 118 Freeway: Exit Los Angeles Avenue/Princeton, go north 1 block, turn left on Campus Park Drive, 1/2 mile to course entrance.
