GOLF COURSES

RUSTIC CANYON GOLF COURSE, SIMI VALLEY

Rustic Canyon Golf Course is touted as having one of the most unique layouts in Southern California. This award winning course designed by Gilbert Hanse, is challenging with expansive fairways, large greens, few trees and an almost imperceptible slope to the terrain. The surrounding mountain ranges and distant landscape can distort one’s perception through optical illusion, therefore giving the unsuspecting golfer a false sense of distance. This lends to the difficulty level of the course. The grounds crew work hard to ensure that the turf is lush, and the greens are fast and firm year round.

SATICOY REGIONAL GOLF COURSE, VENTURA

This charming golf course was originally opened in 1921 and it was designed by George C. Thomas, who also designed the popular Riviera Country Club Golf Course. The course was built on flat terrain, so its easy to walk. There are no water hazards, but many trees do line the fairways. The signature hole, Hole #7 features a ninety-degree dogleg left fairway. This fairly secluded, quiet course is a favorite of local residents year round. American Golf Corporation manages this facility.

SOULE PARK GOLF COURSE, OJAI

Soule Park Golf Course is in a spectacular setting with the best mountain views in the Ojai Valley. In 2005, the course was completely re-designed by award winning architects Gil Hanse & Jim Wagner, the same people that designed the Rustic Canyon Golf Course in Moorpark. The designers took advantage of the many natural features such as the original routing, mature specimen oak trees and creeks. Their focus was to create a course that would be fun and interesting to play for all levels of golfers. The bunkers and greens are varied in size and shape reminiscent of the golden age of Southern California golf course architecture found in the works of George Thomas.
