VC NextGen

Ventura County NextGen is helping Ventura County youth ages (14-24) overcome their barriers to employment. VC NextGen can help you handle your obstacles and prepare for a career that excites you.

Eligible local youth (ages 14-24) can receive many incredible services at no-cost through this program, including but not limited to:

  • One-on-one career coaching and mentorship
  • Transportation aid for those with unreliable or unavailable transportation
  • Assistance in overcoming unstable living situations, homelessness, a justice-involved past, teenage pregnancy, and language barriers
  • Resume writing
  • Completing GED and obtaining High School diploma
  • Childcare guidance and assistance
  • Interview coaching
  • Job search advice and preparation
  • Internship and apprenticeship opportunities
  • Online professional networking (e.g. LinkedIn, Indeed)
  • Education assistance
  • Financial literacy
  • Credential attainment
  • and so much more!

Workforce Development Board of Ventura County
The Workforce Development Board (WDB) administers the distribution of federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds that help support America’s Job and Career Center locations in Ventura County and other Ventura County adult education, employer and youth programs, including Ventura County NextGen. Through the effective use of WIOA funds and strong private and public-sector partnerships, WDB-supported programs offer quality workforce development resources at no cost to program participants. The WDB works to ensure that Ventura County has a strong, relevant workforce that can support the changing needs of employers and that adult job seekers have access to the resources necessary to receive education and achieve success.
