Presiding judge approves grand jury selection procedures. Begin to solicit applications. Application process closes in early April. Background investigations of applicants. June July July to June
Jury commissioner submits names to Presiding Judge who makes final modifications to the proposed list of jurors. Selection of up to 10 members from the prior year’s grand jury may be considered. Mandatory orientation program for all proposed jury members. Final random drawing of the new positions to form the 19-member grand jury panel. Swearing in of the new grand jury. Receive, review, and release to the public all responses to prior year’s grand jury reports. Receive and process public complaints, perform investigations, and publish reports. Attend protocol visits from city and county officials, make site visits to county and special district facilities, and accompany public safety and other agency personnel on ride-alongs. Compile and issue consolidated final report by June 30.
