THE MEDICAL WASTE & BODY ARTS PROGRAM

To protect public health and safety, Environmental Health Specialists perform inspections and issue permits or registrations to large and small quantity medical waste generators. Staff conduct seminars to keep all generators informed about changes in regulations. All citizen's complaints regarding medical waste disposal are investigated. An Environmental Health Specialist responds to illegal disposal incidents whenever the need arises.

Tattooing, body piercing and permanent cosmetics practitioners are required to annually register with the Environmental Health Division. Pending the enactment of State standards, staff conduct advisory inspections to provide education, recommendations and support to practitioners within Ventura County.
