COMPLIANCE
STATUS OF RETAIL FOOD FACILITIES IN VENTURA COUNTY
Patrons
of retail food facilities in Ventura County can easily determine
the compliance status of a facility through the Environmental Health
Division's (EHD) Food Protection Program. Features of this program
that make it convenient for the public to determine the compliance
status of a restaurant include:
1.
On-line
inspection results
2. Posting of all food facility closures on
the internet
3. An inspection placard
4. An inspection summary report available to restaurant patrons
in Ventura County
As
of January 2006, online inspection results of routine and follow-up
inspections from January 1, 2004, to the present have been posted.
The results include any violations of the California Health and
Safety Code found during the inspection and a general description
of the violation. The inspection results are updated each business
day. The results are searchable by business name, street, or city.
If
significant violations are found during an inspection that could
result in a foodborne illness, the food facility will be closed
until the violations are corrected. If a facility is closed, the
information regarding the closure is posted on the EHD website.
After
completing a routine inspection, the EHD inspector provides the
facility owner/operator with an inspection placard, to be posted
in public view, and an inspection summary report. This placard notifies
the public that the facility passed the inspection and that the
public can request to view the inspection report. Additionally,
the placard identifies the date of the last inspection, the name
of the inspector, and EHD contact information. The inspection summary
report is provided so that the public can quickly identify whether
major violations were observed during the inspection.
Staff
in the Food Protection Program welcomes public inquiries and information
