Hello and Welcome to the County of Ventura Board of Supervisors District 1 page

My name is Matt LaVere. I am honored to serve you as your District 1 representative on the Ventura County Board of Supervisors. I was raised in Ventura and Ojai. I am a product of our local schools. I care deeply about this community and work every day to improve the quality of life in our great county.

I am proud to represent and serve the residents of the City of Ventura, Montalvo, Saticoy, Ojai Valley, City of Ojai, Upper Ojai Valley, Victoria Estates, Riverpark, Collection, Rio West, Northwest Oxnard, Windsor North/ River Ridge, North Coast, West Lockwood Valley, Oak View, Miramonte, Meiners Oaks, Casitas Springs, Cabrillo, Rincon and Solimar.

My primary focus as your County Supervisor is ensuring that the County of Ventura my young daughters and your children/grandchildren inherit is even better than the County of Ventura we know today. That means balancing respect for our County’s unique history while having a bold vision for its future. We need high-paying jobs and a strong local economy. We need to build more affordable housing. We need to expand our efforts to address homelessness and mental health challenges. We need to provide vital county services while protecting financial resources as a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. We need to protect our environment, open spaces, hills, and beaches to both preserve these local treasures and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

In my role as County Supervisor I also serve on various boards, councils, and commissions, such as: Air Pollution Control Board, Beach Erosion Authority for Control Operations and Nourishment (BEACON), Behavior Health Advisory Board, California State Association of Counties Board of Directors, First 5 Ventura County, Economic Development Collaborative, Gold Coast Transit District, Channel Islands Harbor Visioning Committee, Regional Defense Partnership – 21st Century, Ventura County Animal Services Commission, Ventura County Emergency Planning Council, Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance, and the Ventura County Transportation Commission.
