Hazardous Waste ProgramThe purpose of the hazardous waste program is to ensure that hazardous wastes are properly managed to protect public health and the environment. Waste is generally considered hazardous if it is ignitable, corrosive, toxic, reactive, or if it can be shown to be detrimental to human health or the environment. The EHD conducts routine inspections of facilities that generate hazardous waste to verify compliance with State hazardous waste laws and regulations contained in the California Health and Safety Code, Chapter 6.5 and the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 4.5 . All Ventura county facilities that generate hazardous waste, except those in the City of Oxnard, are required to obtain a hazardous waste producer’s permit from EHD. |
